I went to Gamespot today and overheard one of the salespeople talking about the margins they make on the video games. Apparently, they make much more on the used games than the new games. This is because they’ll buy a game for like $10 and then turn it around and sell it for $30, quite a profit margin. No wonder they push people to buy their used games over the new ones.
Besides Ebay, there’s not many ways people can sell their video games and DVDs and not totally get ripped off. A site with a sort-of different take on the used buying/selling business is BarterBee. I haven’t used the site myself yet, so I don’t know how good it is. Basically, people can buy/sell video games, DVDs, etc. using “points,” which is basically online money. When you sell an item, you get points. When you buy an item, you get points. If you want to buy something but don’t have the points to do so, you can buy points for $1 a piece.
It’s free to join and they’ll even throw in a free 5 points to your account that you can use towards buying something on BarterBee. If you are into buying and selling used games, DVDs, and CDs, it seems Barterbee is a nice alternative to Ebay or Gamespot.
